The 2nd Annual Roche Constructors Wapiyapi Classic is up next, coming to Aspen September 25. The course includes scenic 25 and 50-mile routes, heading out and back to Paepcke Park, throughout the splendor of the changing colors of the season.
Wapiyapi is a non-profit organization which provides hope and support to families affected by childhood cancer, and 100% of the proceeds from the event will benefit Wapiyapi. The race's top fundraisers will collect huge prizes and hoopla, to be sure.
Wine, hot air balloons and a four-course dinner to celebrate - September brings some splendid reasons to stay around town.
This Friday, the Artisan Restaurant features a kick-off wine dinner, starting at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, get up early to see the sky dotted with colors and textures, as the hot air balloons take off and hover over the weekend's festivities.

There's still time to join in the glory, and take in the glorious colors along the way. Our area's most scenic trail run, the Vasque Golden Leaf Half Marathon, will be held September 24th. Trail Runner Magazine deems the Golden Leaf "One of America's 14 Most Scenic Races", as the course traverses the mountain slopes of Aspen and Snowmass.
