There've been a couple of Powder Posses, a few eager and willing forerunners to the powder-filled Highlands terrain; and many man-powered tracks up and down Buttermilk - but the official Opening Day ribbons have yet to be cut on both Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk Mountain. Mark your calendars during your stay at Aspen Square: December 11, the remaining hills around Aspen will come to life, with the sounds of ski season.
Founded in January 2005, PowdertothePeople.org works to maintain backcountry access for the public through outreach, education and awareness. And to celebrate the arrival of fresh powder on the hill, it's the Powder to the People season kick-off party and backcountry gear/snowmobile swap. This Friday at the Eagle's Club, join Powder to the People from 3-5:30 for the gear swap and 5:30 - 8:00p for festivities, including food, drink, live music and silent auction. According to the holiday calendar, Thanksgiving Weekend has called it a wrap but around town, the sentiments of thanks continue. We all may need a day or two to recover from the goodness: stellar opening weekend snow conditions, followed by abundant sunshine and perfect World Cup viewing conditions. Parties, music, fireworks... celebrating the bounty of winter, Aspen-style. Rest up, because just around the corner it's the Summit for Life, our favorite party and fundraiser for a tremendous cause, featuring and supporting our own Chris Klug.
