The weather keeps getting better and this weekend is a splendid time to leisurely enjoy downtown Aspen. The Aspen Chamber Resort Association presents the 8th Annual Aspen Art Festival at Wagner Park. Free admission, and featuring regional, national and international art, all original and all hand-made in the U.S. For more details, www.aspenchamber.org.
With the summer season in full swing and perfect temperatures to match, Aspen Music Festival and School brings us music to match the mood. Local's favorite, Sunday on the Lawn: bring a picnic, some wine or a stolen afternoon and enjoy world-class classical music outside the Benedict Music Tent. For an acoustic treat, tickets are available for a special listening experience, inside the tent. www.aspenmusicfestival.org for details.
The summer season officially kicks off, when the 4th of July comes to town. There's the Parade on Main Street and the Art Museum gathering, both Aspen traditions and open to all. Celebrate with family and friends at the Aspen Art Museum's Fifth Annual July 4th Family Picnic!
There'll be music by Jes Grew, free Hickory House BBQ and Aspen Brewing Company will bring its stellar microbrews from across the street. And for the kids, art activities courtesy of the Aspen Art Museum. See you at the picnic, 1:30 p.m. at the Art Museum!
