Elk Mountains Grand Traverse

If you visit the Elk Mountains Grand Traverse website, www.elkmountainstraverse.com, you'll see that the clock is ticking down to the start of this year's Grand Traverse at midnight, March 29. The Elk Mountain Grand Traverse is a grueling 40-mile race that begins in Crested Butte and ends at Aspen Mountain. Participants will experience sub-zero temperatures, challenging backcountry terrain and will traverse 7,800 vertical feet. It's not an event for the faint of heart!


Battle for the Elephants

After a busy day on the slopes, tonight's film at the Wheeler Opera House, "Battle for the Elephants," will offer some exercise for your mind. This free screening of the acclaimed National Geographic documentary explores the on-going extinction crisis threatening Africa's elephants. A reception at 6pm will be followed by the screening at 6:45pm. Stay for a thought-provoking panel discussion with the filmmakers and several conservation specialists after the screening.
