For a small mountain town, Aspen has a rich and varied history, going back to 1879, in silver mining, ranching, and eventually, skiing. Anyone can see this by strolling down Main Street past Victorian-era buildings such as the Sardy House and the Hotel Jerome.

At the onset of fall, the aspen trees in the Colorado high country — including those in Aspen and Snowmass — lose their vibrant green and take on a golden hue. These magnificent golden stands of aspen groves attract leaf peepers from all over the state and country, as the Aspen autumn landscape is absolutely stunning.
