Olympic Excitement in Vancouver
Olympic Race Day for Aspen Square's Chris Klug at Cypress Mountain just outside of Vancouver was an exciting one. The day was cold and wet, with rain that fell off and on all day long. It was tough on spectators, but there were still smiles all around. The fog up on the race course made it difficult for both spectators and racers. Still, it was a great day for Olympic racing.
Chris got into the "finals" round and raced well. He was matched against the top racer on the World Cup Tour, a racer from Austria. Chris took both heats, and moved on to quarter finals. He raced against the frenchman who went on to win the bronze. Chris made a little mistake and could not make it up in the second heat. He ended up in seventh place -- pretty good overall! We were so proud of him, getting to his third Olympics and racing hard. It was a great day for the Klug Family.
Closing Ceremonies were next up for Chris, with his family in the arena watching him walk in with the US Team. What a thrill. It was another amazing and exciting Winter Olympic Games! Next up, Chris finishes the World Cup season with two events in Europe, then he returns to Colorado for the US Nationals. More fun racing ahead!
