Aspen Square Daily News
Aspen and Snowmass are open for the season and the skiing is terrific! Early snowfall on the mountains of Aspen prepared the slopes for great skiing and boarding and additional snow has made conditions even better. We are having colder temperatures now and more snow, just right for Snowmaking as well.
More ski terrain is opening this week, with realy fun skiing and snowboarding.
Thanksgiving Weekend bought a fun weekend of racing on Aspen Mountain as the top women racers in the world gathered for the World Cup slalom and giant slalom events. It was a preview of racers we will see at the Winter Olympics coming up in February. It was great racing, but not the best for our United States girls. None made it onto the podium on either day, but the crowds were enthusiastic, the weather mostly sunny and bright and the racing was fast. What a weekend!
With all this new snow on the mountains of Aspen, we are well on our way to another wonderful winter ski/snowboard season. Early snow is already deep on Aspen Mountain, following amazing snowfall this past weekend. Remember, the four areas of Aspen offer uncrowded slopes, a huge variety of terrain and all the skiing you could ever want! There is nothing quite like Colorado Powder, and skiing under blue skies on the open slopes of Aspen.
