X-Games Weekend a grand success

Aspen hosted another succesful Winter X-Games eent, and it was a fun weekend all around! The four days of competition on the snow brought a wild, crazy and fun time for all. Many events were televised at prime time on ESPN. Events will be televised aai oer the weks ahead, all spring long. Competitions were all held at Buttermilk, highlighted by the boardercross and skiercross courses and the GIANT 22 foot halfpipe. It is truly the most amazing sight to see, all lighted at night.


Aspen Writers Winter Words upcoming

Straight from the slopes and into the imagination; it's Apres Ski for the Mind,with Aspen Writer's Foundation Winter Words, getting underway starting January 26. It's the 13th Annual Winter Words, with author talks and readings from the likes of Tobias Wolff, Anita Shreve and Erica Jong. Support one of Aspen's unique non-profits and sample that cultural side of town you're always hearing about. Winter Words features six talks, between January 26 and March 11. Sunshine, snow and smiles!

With continued blue skies and sunshine, and of course great snow and slope conditions, there is a reason for all those big smiles! The groomers are the best, even as we wait for more snow -- expected later in the week.

This is Winterskol Weekend, with special events, fun in town, fireworks on the mountain and a great weekend for everyone! Our favorite is always SoupSkol, a major sampling of soups from booths set up in the street right in front of Aspen Square. Good food ahead! (SKICO photo)
