After the lifts closed in mid-April, Aspen Mountain received nearly four feet of new snow, so the Aspen Skiing Company decided to re-open the top of Aspen Mountain for skiing over the Memorial Day Holiday Weekend. What a fun way to celebrate spring. The temperatures were in the low 70s here in town, and there were skiers on the slopes in shorts! What a great weekend it was.
This weekend, after some turns on Aspen Mountain you can celebrate Memorial Day and the beginning of summer with one of the many crawfish boils being offered in the Roaring Fork Valley. Today the Riverside Grill in Basalt hosts a boil from 5pm until the 300 lbs of fresh Louisiana crawfish run out. Jimmy's Restaurant in Aspen will hold their second annual boil starting at 2pm on Monday.
Aspen Mountain has recorded nearly four feet of fresh snow since mid-April, and the Skiing Company will open the top of Aspen for a weekend of skiing and boarding. 16 runs serviced by the Ajax Express chairlift will be open from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm Saturday through Memorial Day Monday. The Sundeck Restaurant on top will be open for the weekend as well, and the mountain will welcome foot passengers too. A fun weekend is ahead!
