More Snow!!

Well March is definitely going out like a lion this year! Since dinner time yesterday, Snowmass received 9" of fresh snow and Aspen Mountain and Highlands have each gotten 7" more powdery stuff. As you might guess, conditions are fantastic, so if you're not here now, get yourself here for the weekend. It's going to be terrific. Here's a shot of the falling snow in our courtyard this morning!

Winter Sports Gear Recycling

Tomorrow, March 26th, the City of Aspen, the CORE office, Pitkin County and Aspen Sports are joining forces for a two-day free winter sports gear recycling event at Aspen Sports. The event will take place from 9am to 6pm both days in the Aspen Sports store on the Cooper Avenue Mall (just a few blocks from Aspen Square). If you drop off old ski or snowboard gear instead of throwing it away, you'll receive a free demo rental! For details on how to participate, call (970) 429-2885.

Inaugural Red Bull Double Half Pipe Competition


Buttermilk Mountain plays host to the first Red Bull Double Half Pipe competition this weekend. Eighteen of the world's top snowboarders, including Louie Vito, Scotty Lago and Greg Bretz, will compete on the double pipe, which has been fitted out with rails, wall rides and airborne transitions between the two pipes. Qualifying competition is tomorrow, March 22 from noon to 3pm and finals will be on Sunday, also from noon to 3pm. The competition will be broadcast on NBC on April 12.
