Aspen Square Daily News
Tomorrow, October 24, is Food Day - a national celebration that encourages everyone to eat healthy, affordable and sustain-ably produced food. Our children at the elementary and middle schools will enjoy a special spread that includes tasting samples of deliciously healthy items provided to the schools by Smoke BBQ, Rock Bottom Ranch, Avalanche Cheese Company and Crystal River Meats - all locally sourced and grown on the Western Slope. Makes you wish you were still in school. Yum!
Aspen is a dog-lover's town and this weekend, lovers of smart dogs should travel up to Missouri Heights to the Strang Ranch for a warm up event for the 2014 National Sheepdog Trials. The competition gets underway tomorrow, October 18, with the top dogs from the US Border Collie Handlers' Association district 2. Saturday and Sunday will feature open trials which will begin about 7:30am and end at approximately 4:30pm. The events is free to the public. For details contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our weather patterns are certainly pointing toward winter, with another dusting of snowfall and colder temps this week. There are still yellow leaves on the Aspen trees up on the slopes, but we have snow on the slopes as well. We are still in the fall season but it feels like winter is on the way. We are anticipating a grand winter with lots of snow, of course! It's time to plan your Aspen Square visit and great skiing and snowboarding on the mountains of Aspen! Be ready for fun....
