The Wheeler Opera House is one of Aspen's most iconic institutions, and the Wheeler Film Society does its best to keep us informed and entertained year-round. This month's offerings include three superb documentaries and two highly-acclaimed dramas, including "Farewell My Queen" and "Your Sister's Sister." Saturday, October 20 marks the 58th Annual Aspen Ski Swap. The granddaddy of all swaps, it's a community event that brings together families, volunteers and lots of great new and used gear at fantastic prices. The Swap takes place at the Aspen Middle School and runs from 9:30am to 1pm with all proceeds benefiting the Aspen School District's Outdoor Education program. If you wish to contribute new or used equipment to place for sale, bring the equipment to the Middle School on Friday between 4 and 6pm.
