    THEATRE IN AUGUST

Theatre Aspen's summer season continues through September 2nd. Celebrating its 25th season, Theatre Aspen continues to present quality live theatre. The current offering,"Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time" written by local playwright Andrew Kole, allows us all to take a good look at ourselves through the life adventures of one Max Zirinsky. Theatre Aspen's children's production, "The Adventures of Johnny Appleseed" will also be running on Friday and Saturday mornings through September 2nd. Experience great theatre in the comfortable tent in Rio Grande Park. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Wheeler Box Office or by going online to: www.wheeleroperahouse.com.

    SATURDAY MARKET
Mountain goat cheese, Colorado-grown fruits and vegetables, and the largest dahlias in the world! These are just some of the treats that await you at the weekly Saturday Market. Located on Hopkins Avenue & Hunter Street, one block from Aspen Square, the market also features more than 45 artisans. As the days get cooler, the smell of roasted peppers fills the air on Saturday mornings, luring locals and visitors alike to the delights of the market. The market takes place every Saturday from 8 am until 3 pm, weather permitting, and will run through the month of October.

    JAZZ SNOWMASS FESTIVAL
The 2006 Jazz Aspen Snowmass (JAS) Labor Day Festival will take place at Snowmass Town Park September 1-4. Celebrating their 16th season this year, JAS brings you an exciting line-up of the best in contemporary music. This season?s festival will include headline performances from Don Henley, Kanye West and LeAnn Rimes, and many more acts like Susan Tedeschi, Los Lonely Boys and Robert Randolph and the Family Band. The Labor Day Festival includes four full days of open air music featuring rock, funk, blues, world, soul, R&B, reggae and more daily. In addition to the world class acts performing on the main stage daily, the JAS Village hums with an international bazaar of exotic food & drink, funky crafts, side stage performances, drumming circles and more.

    LABOR DAY MEANS VOLLEYBALL
The 34th Annual MotherLode Volleyball Classic will take place again over the Labor Day Weekend, August 31st ? September 4th. Over 700 teams come from all over the country to compete, including beach professionals, legends of the game, USA National Team members, and top amateurs. This year's event may be the most exciting of all of the 34 years combined with many pros traveling to Aspen for the greatest volleyball party of the year. Spectator admission is FREE - with food & beverage concessions, music, and a full ?volley-fair.

    RIDE FOR THE CURE
Participate in the 3rd annual Aspen/Snowmass Ride for the Cure on September 9th from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. The race is the only century (100 mile) ride in the country exclusively dedicated to raising funds and awareness for breast cancer. The 100 mile route takes the best rides in Aspen and combines them into one amazing ride through the vibrant fall foliage of the Rocky Mountains while raising funds to benefit the Aspen affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. And if you?re not up to the full 100 mile ride, just go out and ride as far as you can.

    MUSIC, VOLLEYBALL,
    GOLDEN LEAVES…DISCOUNTED RATES

The Jazz Aspen Labor Day Festival, four full days of open air music, marks the end of the summer. A star-spangled lineup will be highlight of the holiday weekend. That very same weekend, the Mother Lode Volley Ball Tournament brings this fast-paced sport to various venues around town. But then, as the aspen leaves turn bright yellow, as the skies turn a deep cloudless blue, it is the quiet time between summer and winter. We offer reduced rates for this wonderful time of the year ? the time for Ruggerfest (September 14-17), the breathtaking Snowmass Balloon festival (September 15-17), and for enjoying the fine dining available in Aspen ? without the wait and the advance reservations. September in Aspen is nothing short of heaven. Come see us!
