    APRES X CONCERT SERIES

New this year! The Apres X Concert Series, two free concerts, as part of all the festivities surrounding the Winter X Games. These events are free and open to the public.

These concerts will keep the action and excitement flowing in Aspen into the night with performances in Wagner Park on Friday and Saturday, January 28th & 29th beginning at 9:30 pm. Friday night will feature the Los Angeles Latin funk-rap band Ozomatli, and Saturday's concert will be performances by Z-TRIP and The Roots.

    SNOW INCREDIBLE SNOW!

A great deal of snow has graced Aspen's slopes in January. During the second week of the month, the ski patrol at the top of Aspen Highlands flew the "Epic" flag continuously for 5 days, indicating awesome ski and snow conditions! Following a full week of powder days, sunny days with bluebird skies have prevailed as Aspen gears up for the ESPN Winter X Games.

    AWOL IN ASPEN

An Aspen/Snowmass signature event, AWOL will create huge excitement with athletes and spectators with a "wallride" right at the base of Aspen Mountain, where athletes scale an insanely enormous, 30-foot wall feature while the band Unwritten Law, a nationally known punk band, plays on a stage above it all. Show starts at 5:15 pm on Sunday, January 30th.

    WINTER MUSIC SERIES MOVES AHEAD

Grammy nominated pianist Piotr Anderszewksi makes his Aspen debut in early February as the second instalment of the "Winter Music" Artist Recital Series. The concert, second in the Aspen Music Festival's Winter Series, is scheduled for Thursday, February 3rd at 7:30 p.m. in Harris Hall and will include works by Bach and Chopin.

    BALLET IN EARLY FEBRUARY

Fresh from their international debut in Europe, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet is back with two new duets and a world premiere! Danced to Ravel's Bolero, FANDANGO is a provocative duet, while Moses Pendleton's classic SKIVA is a duet performed on skis! Also on the program, the world premiere of a brand new ballet created especially for the dancers of Aspen Santa Fe Ballet by David Parsons. Performances are at the Aspen District Theatre, Feb. 3, 4 and 5 at 7:30pm.

    LAUGHS IN FEBRUARY THIS YEAR

The U.S. Comedy Festival, sponsored by HBO, will celebrate its 11th year from February 9th to 13th. Normally held the first week of March, this year's festival has been moved to February but still promises all the laughs as in years past. This year's festival includes performances by Eddie Izzard and Colin Quinn, as well as the cast of "Arrested Development" and a tribute to Cheech & Chong. For tickets or more information, visit www.hbocomedyfestival.com.

RESTAURANT OF THE MONTH - THE WILD FIG

In a friendly and warm setting, the Wild Fig boasts fine Mediterranean cuisine with both European and north African influences. The Mediterranean's prime product, of course, is seafood, and the Wild Fig offers many options as well as several meat entrees. In a great location right across from the Wheeler Opera House, the Wild Fig is on the "must list" this winter.

    CALENDAR OF EVENTS

Skiing and snowboarding are king in Aspen, of course; but there is also so much going on to see, do and enjoy -- all winter long! Special events are always part of the fun of Aspen, and the weeks ahead are no exception. Here are some special dates to note in the later half of the month:
