A RECORD BREAKING DECEMBER! |

Wow, it just keeps snowing! We closed
December with 118 inches of snow, a new record for the month! As a result, the New Year in Aspen/Snowmass began with 99 percent of the terrain open, and the best conditions in years! And since January 1st, we've had over 40 inches of snow, making for one powder day after another! If you haven't
done so, get your winter ski vacation booked and enjoy some of this amazing skiing!

WINTER X GAMES RETURN! |

The 12th annual ESPN Winter X Games are
scheduled this year for January 24th - 27th, and this premiere winter action sports event promises to astound and amaze just as it has in years past. These mind-boggling games are free and open to the public featuring more than 200 athletes from across the globe competing for medals and prize money
in Halfpipe, Slopestyle, Sno-Cross, and the newest event, Snowmobile Freestyle (pictured), where competitors perform tricks and jumps ranging from 45 feet up to more than 100 feet! Don't miss this exhilarating event!! More information.

WINTER WORDS |

Since 1998, the Aspen Writers'
Foundation has presented a seasonal series of unforgettable evenings with remarkable writers. Dubbed "Après Ski for the Mind" these singular events feature award-winning and best-selling authors who bring books to life with literary readings and talks. "Winter Words"
begins on January 30th with Ann Patchett, best-selling author of Bel Canto and Run. Then, on February 7th, Sebastian Junger (pictured), author of The Perfect Storm and A Death in Belmont, will speak. Both of these events will take place at 5:30 pm at the Given Institute. Tickets are $15. More information.

WINTER MUSIC BEGINS |

The Aspen Music Festival's "Winter
Music" series gets underway in February with three amazing performances. On Tuesday, February 12th, cellist David Finckel joins his wife and pianist Wu Han (both pictured) for an evening celebrating the music of Schubert, Beethoven and Brahms. Then, on Wednesday, February 20th, pianist Piotr
Anderszewski performs Bach, Mozart and Beethoven. And finally, on Tuesday, February 26th, Emanuel Ax, the piano mega-star makes his first Aspen appearance in six years. All performances are at 7:30 p.m. in Harris Hall. Tickets are $55 - $65. More information.

ASPEN SANTA FE BALLET RETURNS |

After crisscrossing the globe from Italy to
Guatemala, St. Louis to Hawaii, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet comes back home with a blockbuster program of innovative new work never before seen in Aspen! Their latest acquisition is Slingerland by William Forsythe, the famed choreographer who revolutionized the Frankfurt Ballet. Karole Armitage's
mysterious Time is the Echo and hot Finnish choreographer Jorma Elo's 1st Flash add to this spectacular program. Performances will be February 14th & 16th at 7:30 pm at the Aspen District Theatre, and tickets are $20 - $64. More information.

LYLE LOVETT RETURNS TO ASPEN |

The Wheeler Opera House has been
bringing top names in the music industry to Aspen for years, and 2008 will be no exception. On January 22nd, Aspen's very own wayward son, Lyle Lovett, will return to Aspen for one show only. This long lanky Texan is an Aspen legend, and this performance will mark his tenth or eleventh stint on the
Wheeler stage. Playing with his trio (or maybe a quartet), lovers of the quirky tale will be amply rewarded with this certified master of the form. Tickets are $75 & $95. More information.
