BEYOND BLUEGRASS |
 |
|
The
fifth annual festival of acoustic music returns to the Wheeler
Opera House in March. Things get underway on March 16th with Psychograss,
one of the most eclectic groups in bluegrass/string music today.
Then, on March 17th, the French Acadian band Vishten brings their
unusual mixture of French, Irish and Scottish styles to the stage.
On March 18th, Blue Highway, the super group on the circuit at
the moment, will perform. Wrapping up the festival, Donna the
Buffalo (pictured), the group that brings together reggae, Zydeco,
Cajun and folk traditions to form a funky and danceable groove,
takes the stage on March 19th.

On
Friday, the “KickAspen” Big Air contest in Aspen will
get the crowd oohing and aahing as skiers and boarders from all
over compete on a huge jump at the base of Aspen Mountain.
On
Saturday, the Aspen Rail Revolution has tricksters showing off
their latest moves on rails right on the gondola plaza! That competition
is followed by a core party right in downtown Aspen!

The
annual Snowmass Big-Air contest combines skiers and boarders as

so get out there and cheer him on! The contest runs from 3:00
pm – 4:00 pm every Friday in March on Fanny Hill at Snowmass.
A special Thursday event is planned for March 17th for Spring

WHERE IS HE NOW? |
 |
|
Aspen Square’s own
Olympic Snowboard Racer ended his season early this winter, due
to a broken collarbone in the Winter X-Games here in Aspen. He
had surgery, and is just about all healed up now – but he
missed out on the rest of the winter race season. Too bad. He
continues to travel all over the United States, telling his story
of organ transplant awareness and promoting his new book. Check
out Chris’s own web site: www.chrisklug.com. He will be
back racing again next winter, and it is an Olympic year!
