Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado

The Winter X Games in Aspen are a cherished winter season event. Buttermilk Mountain has been host to the X Games for over a decade now; and each year, the X Games showcase even more high-flying, gravity-defying action.

In the past, Olympians Shaun White and Gretchen Bleiler have graced Buttermilk with their presence, and they—along with hundreds of other talented athletes—have used the crowd's energy to pull off incredible tricks.

A handful of the more popular Winter X Games competitions include Snowboard and Skiing Superpipe, Snowboard and Skiing Freestyle, Skiing and Snowboard Big Air, Skier Cross, Snowboard Cross and Snowmobile SnoCross and Freestyle.

The elimination and first rounds for a majority of these events take place during the afternoon, with the final rounds scheduled for the evening under the lights. Nightly coverage on ESPN during the Winter X Games has helped to grow its popularity over the years, and Buttermilk Mountain and its world-class superpipe has gained tremendous popularity as a result.
