The continued mild temperatures and sun poking out in between snow flurries made for some great cruising over at Snowmass. While skiing with an out-of-town cousin, I marveled at just how well the snow has been holding up. Coverage is still impressive and it is easy to hold an edge.
With snow in the forecast (snow is expected continuously for the next two weeks), there is going to be GREAT skiing and riding in the coming days! I can't wait!
We are expecting more snow over the next few days, just in time to make the ESPN Winter X-Games just that much more fun! We will be at the bottom of the courses at Buttermilk, watching the competition and cheering on our favorites. Aspen/Snowmass local Gretchen Bleiler is a favorite in the half pipe again, as is the Flying Tomato on the men's side. Both will be prime candidates for gold at the Vancouver Olympics coming up in February as well. The boardercross and skiercross events will feature both men and women who will be competing in the Winter Olympics just a couple of weeks later.
Today saw a mixture of sun and clouds, and more fun skiing on the slopes of Aspen. The mountain crews are working the snow to keep our slopes in top condition. We are all anxious for fresh snow, and it may come in the days ahead; but in the meantime, we sure are enjoying those groomers!
