Hiking in Aspen is one of the most popular outdoor activities in the area, and enjoying a day hike is sometimes the best way to appreciate the natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains.
During the colder September nights, the aspen trees in the Colorado high country, including those in Aspen and Snowmass, lose their vibrant green to take on a golden hue. These gorgeously golden stands of aspen groves attract leaf peepers from all over the state and country.
For a small mountain town, Aspen has a rich and varied history, going back to 1879, in silver mining, ranching, and eventually, skiing. Anyone can see this by strolling down Main Street past Victorian-era buildings such as the Sardy House and the Hotel Jerome.
Aspen shopping is often defined by the outstanding offerings of high-end boutiques and world famous designer names scattered throughout the downtown. Gucci, Dior, Theory, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Dolce and Gabana as well as local purveyors of finely crafted goods and fine jewelry are all within easy walking distance.
With more than 35 years of experience in the Aspen Snowmass area, Blazing Adventures is the go-to planner for activities during a stay at Aspen Square. Although well-known for its river rafting trips, Blazing Adventures can also arrange a variety of fun outdoor activities including guided road or mountain biking tours, jeep tours, and horseback riding.
With miles and miles of groomed trails stretching from Aspen to Snowmass to Basalt, cross country skiing in Aspen is a great way to explore the Roaring Fork Valley, get some exercise and sunshine, and have an exciting Nordic skiing adventure.
