Amidst the XGames excitement coming to town, Jazz Aspen Snowmass offers some dynamite entertainment and something a little different, this time of year. JAS Downstairs at the Little Nell presents Kim Nalley Singing Billie Holiday. Ms. Nalley's voice spans 3 1/2 octaves, making for an unparalleled rendition of Lady Day. Revel in the magic, as the music of Billie Holiday to life. Two shows each night, 1/29-1/30; for more info, www.jazzaspen.org.
The continued mild temperatures and sun poking out in between snow flurries made for some great cruising over at Snowmass. While skiing with an out-of-town cousin, I marveled at just how well the snow has been holding up. Coverage is still impressive and it is easy to hold an edge.
With snow in the forecast (snow is expected continuously for the next two weeks), there is going to be GREAT skiing and riding in the coming days! I can't wait!
We are expecting more snow over the next few days, just in time to make the ESPN Winter X-Games just that much more fun! We will be at the bottom of the courses at Buttermilk, watching the competition and cheering on our favorites. Aspen/Snowmass local Gretchen Bleiler is a favorite in the half pipe again, as is the Flying Tomato on the men's side. Both will be prime candidates for gold at the Vancouver Olympics coming up in February as well. The boardercross and skiercross events will feature both men and women who will be competing in the Winter Olympics just a couple of weeks later.
