The Aspen Valley Marathon is this Saturday, July 19. Participants will run on the Rio Grande Trail from Aspen to Basalt, through beautiful river scenery and an elevation change of 1,418 feet. Most of the race is on paved trail, with just 20% on hard-packed dirt. This race is a Boston Marathon qualifier, so be prepared for some fast times! For details, visit www.aspenvalleymarathon.com.
The Aspen Science Center presents wonderful programs for kids and their parents and this week's presentation, "Cool Jobs," is no exception. A panel of experts from all walks of life and work-from architecture, polar expedition guide and aerospace engineering to oncology, race car driving and particle physics-discuss their jobs from 5pm to 7:30pm.
