Aspen Square Daily News
Aspen's regular ski season is closed for the winter, but there was still so much snow up on the slopes on closing day! With all the new snow, Aspen Highlands reopened for two "bonus weekends" at the end of April. There was still time for some final turns. It was quite a season with terrific snow from start to finish, including amazing snow right to the end. What a great ski season this has been!
Up to 15 inches of snow has fallen at Aspen/Snowmass since 2 a.m. Tuesday morning and snow continued through the morning. Now, the skies are blue, the sun is out, it is still cold and skiing is just AMAZING. An Epic day for sure. All four mountains – Snowmass, Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk – received at least a foot, Aspen Mountain had 15 inches as of 9 a.m. and wind-loaded slopes have up to a foot and a half. The coverage is excellent with base depths in the 5-8 foot range.
Up to 9 inches of new snow were recorded on the mountains of Aspen as snow continued to fall late Monday night and Tuesday morning. More snow is falling. Wow, a great Powder Day today! Temperatures are colder and snow conditions will be absolutely amazing today.
