Aspen Square Daily News
If you want to take a break from the X Games, the Aspen Institute and Theatre Masters have just the right alternative. On Saturday night, January 26, the Institute hosts a free fireside chat, "Theater Today Gives Voice to Timeless Ideas" beginning at 5pm in the Koch Building. Then Theatre Masters presents three nights of "Take Ten," an evening of ten-minute plays written by playwriting students from CalArts, Carnegie Mellon, Columbia and more. "Take Ten" runs January 27-29 at Aspen High School's Black Box Theater. All performances are at 7:30pm.
Just two more days before X Games Aspen returns for another weekend of competition and cutting edge sport. At Buttermilk, the entrance arch is up, the superstructure for the TV crew and announcers is erected, and the half-pipe and free-style jumps are being groomed. And Aspen Square is bustling with folks from ESPN who make the weekend such a success. It's one of the most exciting weeks to be here, with energy running high and lots of ways to enjoy watching the competition.
It's a late January Aspen tradition -- the return of ESPN's Winter X Games over the weekend of January 25 - 27. Buttermilk is the venue for the competitions that include tricks in the Super Pipe, ski and snowboard races and slope-style, snow-cross with snowmobiles and so much fun. Most events are broadcast live on ESPN each night, then they are rebroadcast over the months ahead. Tune in and see Aspen at its best, or come and enjoy the events in person. They are all free!!
