Aspen is a dog-lover's town and this weekend, lovers of smart dogs should travel up to Missouri Heights to the Strang Ranch for a warm up event for the 2014 National Sheepdog Trials. The competition gets underway tomorrow, October 18, with the top dogs from the US Border Collie Handlers' Association district 2. Saturday and Sunday will feature open trials which will begin about 7:30am and end at approximately 4:30pm. The events is free to the public. For details contact email@example.com.
Our weather patterns are certainly pointing toward winter, with another dusting of snowfall and colder temps this week. There are still yellow leaves on the Aspen trees up on the slopes, but we have snow on the slopes as well. We are still in the fall season but it feels like winter is on the way. We are anticipating a grand winter with lots of snow, of course! It's time to plan your Aspen Square visit and great skiing and snowboarding on the mountains of Aspen! Be ready for fun....
The Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club (AVSC) is hosting the fall's first ski swap on Sunday, October 13. The swap will take place in the El Jebel Whole Foods parking lot from 10am to 2pm. Great deals from local ski shops like Radio, Ajax Bike and Ski, Sunlight and Incline will be included as well as used alpine, snowboard, Nordic, telemark and freestyle gear.
