Aspen Square Daily News
It's 8:25 am on Saturday morning, and it's lightly snowing in downtown Aspen! The clouds are hanging low over the surrounding mountains and while we're not expecting deep snow, it's giving us our first taste of winter and we're delighted! Here's a shot from our webcam as it's trained towards Aspen Mountain.
One of our favorite non-profits, the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies, will present it's annual Harvest Party on October 20, at Rock Bottom Ranch in Basalt. The party takes place from 12 noon to 4 pm and will feature a fun afternoon of apple-cider pressing, pumpkin carving, live music and a delicious lunch. This is a car-free event, so participants will need to bike, hike, horseback ride or take the free shuttle to the Ranch. For details, call Rock Bottom Ranch at (970)927-6760.
It's a brilliantly sunny morning in Aspen. Plenty of bright golden leaves still on our trees just outside Aspen Square. We woke up this morning to the sight of light snow on Independence Pass and in Highland Bowl. Although it's still six and a half weeks away, ski season feels just around the corner! The picture with this post is from the top of Independence Pass with a small amount of snow - just like what we're seeing today when we look up the Pass.
