Aspen Square Daily News
Runners took off next to Aspen Square this morning at 8am, participating in Boogie's annual Buddy 5 race - the start of our festive 4th of July celebration. With the community parade at noon, picnics in parks all over town, the free band concert at the Music Tent and dancing in the streets this evening, it's a great day to be in Aspen and to enjoy our small town's community atmosphere. We wish you were here with us!
As we enter full summer, Aspen's cultural landscape is heating up. In the next week many of our cultural groups are offering their first programs of the season. The Aspen Environment Forum, presented by the Aspen Institute begins tomorrow June 22. Jazz Aspen Snowmass presents the first weekend of their June Festival, starting tomorrow with a performance by the Dukes of September Rhythm Review. And Theatre Aspen, our original theater in the park, begins their summer with "Avenue Q", running from June 25 to July 21.
Next weekend Aspen looks forward to the first week of Jazz Aspen Snowmass's annual June Festival, with concerts at the Benedict Music Tent. Among the luminaries performing are British rocker Joe Cocker (June 23) and Canadian singer/songwriter k.d.lang (June 24). Expect enthusiastic crowds and great music!
