It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas here in Aspen with holiday decorations festooning every lamp post and fir tree around Aspen Square. One of Aspen's most popular holiday traditions, the annual Messiah performances, will take place next weekend at St. Mary's Church on Main Street. Performances are Friday and Saturday nights, December 14 and 15, at 7:30 pm. Come and sing along with your friends and neighbors in the chorus and enjoy some tuneful holiday cheer!

Woody Creek Community Center (WC3) is hosting the first Good Day Saturday Holiday Ornament Workshop on Saturday, December 1, from 9am to 3pm. Build a holiday ornament to enter in WC3's Ornament Competition, Exhibition and Sale. Enjoy free hot chocolate and a cookie for every child you bring! Ornament submission deadline is December 7 and winners will be announced at the Exhibition Party and Auction on December 13. The ornament sale runs from December 13-January 5, with proceeds benefiting the free programs of the WC3. For details visit www.woodyc3.org.

Today the women's World Cup races begin with the running of the giant slalom. In addition to the races, the public is invited to a number of festive events to help celebrate World Cup and the Thanksgiving weekend. Today's events include the Taste of Winternational, live music, prizes and kids' race at the finish area. From 6:30-8pm the Bud Light Hi-Fi Concert Series presents the Reverend Horton Heat at the Gondola Plaza, follow by the day's award series and fireworks which begin at 8:15pm.
