This weekend is packed with early-summer events, but only the Snowmass Mammoth Fest is serving up Leftover Salmon. The popular band offers wide-ranging musical styles from rock, country, bluegrass, Tex-Mex and zydeco. When you combine that with a chili and brewfest, it's going to be a great night in Snowmass! The show starts at 8pm at the Snowmass Town Park. For Mammoth Fest details, visit www.snowmassmammothfest.com.
The Aspen Writers' Foundation Summer Words opens tomorrow, June 14. Tonight, a special pre-event called "Your First Break" takes place at the Hotel Jerome from 6-7:15 pm. Adrienne Brodeur will moderate a conversation between poet Billy Collins and fellow writers Bernard Cooper, Julia Glass and Meg Wolitzer on the recognizing the moment when their work "shifts" and how to act on it. Like all of Summer Words, this is a special opportunity to experience the creative process from the writers' perspective. For tickets, call (970) 920-5770 or www.aspenshowtix.com.
