If you're in downtown Aspen tomorrow morning, don't miss the most adorable parade of the year, the Aspen Children's Parade. Beginning at 10am in front of Boogie's Diner, the children of Kids First, will stroll through town with their teachers, ending at the Fountain across from the Wheeler Opera House. Expect colorful signs, bright t-shirts and plenty of hugable little kids. For details about Kids First and their early childhood programs, visit kidsfirst@cityofaspencom.
It may look like spring here in town, but on the top of Aspen Mountain, it's still winter. So the good people at the Aspen Skiing Company are opening Aspen Mountain for a weekend of Memorial Day skiing. Beginning Saturday, May 24 and ending on Memorial Day, May 26, the Silver Queen Gondola will run from 9am to 2pm each day. After some runs, you can always come back down and play a round of golf!
Today's paper announced that the Colorado Department of Transportation hopes to open the road over Independence Pass at 2pm tomorrow, May 22. Avalanche control was completed last week, so all that remains is to clear the snow off the road. To make sure you can come over the Pass tomorrow afternoon, visit www.cotrip.org or call 511 from anywhere in Colorado.
