Winter Events 2013-2014

Aspen’s calendar is packed with events during the winter. Here is just a sampling of what’s in store during the upcoming months.

Nov. 8-9, 13-16 – Aspen Community Theater, Aspen District Theater
Two weekends of hilarious performances of Mel Brooks’s iconic comedy, “The Producers,” performed by talented local performers.

Nov. 28 – Opening Day, Aspen Mountain and Snowmass
Dec. 7 – Aspen Summit for Life, Aspen Mountain
Participants race to the top of Aspen Mountain in support of the Chris Klug Foundation, a non-profit promoting organ donation.
Dec. 14 – Opening Day, Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk

Dec. 20-31 – 12 Days of Aspen
Enjoy free events and holiday cheer every day during Aspen’s annual salute to the Holiday Season, capped by a spectacular fireworks display over Aspen Mountain on New Year’s Eve.

Dec. 21-22 – USPA World Snow Polo Championship

Dec. 22-Jan. 1 – Aspen Film/Academy Screenings

Jan. 9-12 – Wintersköl
Aspen’s annual celebration of the joys of winter includes a festive parade and lots of fun on-mountain events at each of the four mountains of Aspen/Snowmass.

Jan. 13-19 – Gay Ski Week

Jan. 23-26 – ESPN Winter X Games 16, Buttermilk
Celebrated winter athletes and enthusiastic fans converge for an extraordinary display of athleticism and cutting edge sport on the slopes of Buttermilk Mountain.

Feb. 20-23 – Aspen/Snowmass Freeskiing Open

Mar. 1 – Power of Four Ski Mountaineering Race
Participants ski, hike and skin up all four mountains of Aspen/Snowmass, covering 25 miles and an altitude gain of 12,000 feet in an amazing feat of endurance.

Mar. 14-23 – 14th Anniversary Bud Light Spring Jam, Aspen and Snowmass
Ten days of spring skiing, competitions, concerts in downtown Aspen and great parties.

Mar. 23 – Battle of the Bowls, Aspen Highlands
Participants hike up and ski down all the bowls at Aspen Highlands, in a grueling endurance race.

Mar. 29-30 – Elk Mountains Grand Traverse, Aspen Mountain
A Colorado tradition since 1998, this wilderness race begins at 12 midnight when hundreds of participants take off to ski the challenging 40-mile route from Crested Butte to Aspen through the rugged terrain of the Elk Mountains.

April 6 – Closing Day, Buttermilk

April 8-13 – Aspen Film’s Shortsfest

April 13 – Closing Day, Aspen Highlands

April 20 - Closing Day, Aspen Mountain and Snowmass
