Aspen High Students Compete at the X Games

Two talented Aspen High School students will compete at the X Games tonight in the skiing superpipe finals at Buttermilk and we hope you'll tune in to cheer them on. Torin Yater-Wallace is just 17, but competing at his third X Games. AHS senior, Alex Ferreira, competing for the first time, reached an unprecedented height of 18.1' during last night's qualifying rounds. The finals begin at 8:45 tonight - don't miss it!


Aspen Institute and Theatre Masters Join Forces

If you want to take a break from the X Games, the Aspen Institute and Theatre Masters have just the right alternative. On Saturday night, January 26, the Institute hosts a free fireside chat, "Theater Today Gives Voice to Timeless Ideas" beginning at 5pm in the Koch Building. Then Theatre Masters presents three nights of "Take Ten," an evening of ten-minute plays written by playwriting students from CalArts, Carnegie Mellon, Columbia and more. "Take Ten" runs January 27-29 at Aspen High School's Black Box Theater. All performances are at 7:30pm.

Just two more days before X Games Aspen returns for another weekend of competition and cutting edge sport. At Buttermilk, the entrance arch is up, the superstructure for the TV crew and announcers is erected, and the half-pipe and free-style jumps are being groomed. And Aspen Square is bustling with folks from ESPN who make the weekend such a success. It's one of the most exciting weeks to be here, with energy running high and lots of ways to enjoy watching the competition.
