At 7pm tonight, the Wheeler Opera House is hosting a free screening of the acclaimed documentary "Bidder 70." The film is an examination of two issues that directly impact our own Roaring Fork Valley - climate change and energy development. After the screening, a Q & A session with representatives from Peaceful Uprising and Wilderness Workshop will be held.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for our area beginning at 6pm tonight. Snow accumulations of 8-16" of snow are predicted with wind gusts from 10-20 miles per hour. Sounds like our kind of weather! The warning is in effect until midnight tomorrow night, so stayed tuned for more developments. We'll keep you posted.
While we wait for the next storm system to arrive Friday afternoon, we're taking the evening off for a good cause. Bumps Restaurant, at the base of Buttermilk, is hosting the Empty Bowls Dinner tonight from 5 to 7pm, benefiting local non-profit Lift Up. Students from Aspen's Middle, Community and Country Day schools have created hundreds of ceramic bowls which will be sold during the fundraiser. A simple dinner of soup, bread and dessert will be offered by local restaurants. It's a great way to fill up and fill a needy person at the same time. For details call (970) 429-1900.
