HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA! It is always one of our favorite holiday weekends, with so many activities and special events it is hard to choose what to do! The weekend was a fun and active one. Jazz Aspen hosted singer Natalie Cole on Saturday night, and the Aspen Music Festival began its 8-week season as well. Sunday saw the July 4th parade wind through town starting at noon, and there was a terrific band concert at 7:30 pm that night -- FREE! Fireworks, always a favorite, exploded high over Aspen Mountain.
The annual late June festival of jazz and great music was a grand success, and what a terrific weekend it ws. Events were at the Music Festval Tent on Aspen's west side, along with mini-concerts in town and at local watering holes. Headliners this year included Harry Connick Jr Friday, Christian McBride and friends, and contemporary big band Pink Martini. A specal concert by singer Natalie Cole is on July 3. Wow, wonderful music all weekend long! Call Aspen Square for concert details and special Jazz Aspen lodging rates for next weekend. Come see us and enjoy more great music!
The Food and Wine Weekend just past was a huge success, and everyone had fun. What a weekend it was, with beautiful weather in Aspen, clear skies and very warm temperatures. There are new flowers up all over town, and here at Aspen Square. The Wheeler Fountain is always a big hit with kids, and a sure sign that vacation time is here.
