The jumps have been created, the half-pine is polished, the ESPN people are in town and the excitement is growing for the return of the Winter X Games Aspen. Starting Thursday the competition will run through Sunday, January 26. If you're anywhere near Aspen, Buttermilk Mountain will be the place to be for high-flying tricks, turns and extreme competition!
The Aspen Times Town Race Series, one of the longest running town race leagues in the US, begins this Saturday, January 18 with a Giant Slalom competition. There will be recreational and advanced divisions. All of the races this winter will take place at Aspen Highlands. Registration begins at 8am in the arcade at the Aspen Highlands Mall and the start time is 10:30am. Additional races will take place over the next two months. ESPN's Winter X Games return next week, from January 23 - 26. All events are free and take place at Buttermilk, featuring the super half-pipe, and the slope-style course and snowmobile courses. The Ski Company has been moving huge piles of snow around for the past few weeks, building the features and preparing for the exciting competitions ahead. In addition to the competition on snow, there will be concerts and plenty of fun in Aspen during the X Games weekend.
