“Give more than you take.”

Aspen Snowmass skiers and riders carried lift tickets emblazoned with these wise words during the 2008-2009 season. Whenever you saw that lift ticket, you wondered how you could give more. In early December each year, you have a great opportunity to give back, by participating in the annual nighttime Aspen Summit for Life, a fundraiser for the Chris Klug Foundation.

As a community, Aspen strives to give more than it takes, and this is especially true during the Summit for Life Uphill Race which takes place on Aspen Mountain. Held in early December―in the heart of a season highlighted by giving and gratitude―the Summit for Life is a fundraiser for the Chris Klug Foundation, which supports tissue and organ donation. The race was founded in 2005 by Chris Klug, who was the recipient of organ donation himself and went on to win an Olympic medal just 18 months after his surgery. The uphill race is a challenging way to exercise with the Aspen community and after you make it to the top, you can party with everyone at the Sundeck.

If the uphill race is more of a challenge than you’re ready for, Aspen Summit for Life has many ways for people to participate, such as attending the charity dinner, Wine and Dine for Life. Another option to show your support is to attend the donation-based yoga class, Yoga for Life. On race night, you can Ride for Life, by riding the Silver Queen Gondola to the top for dinner, live music, and awards. And if you’re unable to attend the events, you can be Snowed In, and make a donation online to the Chris Klug Foundation.
