Theatre Aspen, Aspen’s original theatre in the park, has been producing high-quality theatrical productions in Aspen, Colorado for more than 30 years. The theater company is well-known for bringing Broadway-stature talent to Aspen for their summer performance season and theater-goers can expect big talent in the intimate theater tent in the park.
Theatre Aspen’s home, Hurst Theatre, is located in the idyllic Rio Grande Park and is the second tent-style venue for Theatre Aspen’s productions. The Hurst Theatre is a small space that brings the audience and performers into close contact, inviting the audience into the performance in ways that enhance the experience. You’ll feel like you’re a part of the performance; very facial expression, every character idiosyncrasy is visible and every single word of your favorite play or musical can be heard. A Theatre Aspen performance is a truly immersive experience. And with the expanded venue, Theatre Aspen is able to provide food and beverage options before, at intermission and after the show for people who want to mix and mingle a little longer.
Theatre Aspen stages at least three productions during their summer repertory season. Productions usually include one play, one musical, and a family-oriented production which are rotated throughout the two-month season.
