The Carbondale Mountain Fair, which begins tonight, began in 1972 with 20 booths showcasing local artists and artisans. Forty-six years later, Mountain Fair draws over 145 vendors who bring their unique and diverse homemade wares to town each summer. Mountain Fair also features non-stop entertainment–both live music and other forms of performing arts; a family-area called The Oasis which provides fun, creative experiences for children; great food, and friendly competitions that run the gamut from pie baking to wood splitting. More than 300 volunteers come together to run the fair, and throughout the weekend, more than 20,000 people will pass through from across the state and all over the country! If you want a really homegrown Colorado experience, Mountain Fair is a perfect option while visiting Aspen.
