This weekend's Food & Wine Classic marks the traditional start of summer here in Aspen. Between now and the end of the month, many of Aspen's treasured summer cultural events will begin. Next week, Aspen Summer Words and Writing Festival runs from June 19-24. Then, Aspen Ideas Festival:Health begins (running June 22-25), offering in-depth examinations of today's most pressing health issues. Among the noted speakers are Dr. Peter Hotez, Kathleen Sebelius, Alex Azar, Dr. Rochelle Walensky and Maria Shriver. Jazz Aspen's June Experience takes place from June 23-26 at locations in town. Then, the Aspen Idea Festival begins June 25 and runs to July 1. Topics from sustainability, digital technology, diversity, beauty, security, politics and more will becovered over the next seven days. It's a whirlwind of thought leaders and we are lucky to have them in our midst every year. There is also a digital viewing component this year allowing for remote involvement. Theatre Aspen kicks of its season on June 27 with performances of Gypsy: A Musical Fable. Theatre Aspen runs through August 23. And finally, the granddaddy of Aspen's cultural institutions, the Aspen Music Festival and School opens its eight-week season on June 30. In the following weeks it will present more than 350 musical events from recitals, chamber music, orchestral performances and operas. Aspen is truly blessed to have this abundance of cultural offerings at our fingertips all summer!
