The 21st annual Winter Words, presented by Aspen Words, begins Tuesday, January 9. This year's Winter Words series will be celebrating America's leading authors, including Pulitzer Prize winners, New York Times' best-selling writers and the U.S. Poet Laureate. First up is Alice McDermott, professor at Johns Hopkins University and the author of eight novels, including “The Ninth Hour,” published in 2017.  Her seventh novel, “Someone,” was a New York Times best-seller, and a finalist for a number of literary awards. Three of her previous novels, were finalists for the Pulitzer Prize. McDermott's stories, essays and reviews have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The New Yorker and elsewhere.  The presentation begins at 6pm in Paepcke Auditorium on the Aspen Institute campus.
