Last night a quick storm dropped a fluffy six inches of snow on our mountains, which only makes this week's FIS Snowboard and Freeski World Championships and World Cup events that follow that much sweeter. The World Championships will include slopestyle, halfpipe and big air events. The US Grand Prix World Cup, which follows just after the World Championships, will include slopestyle and halfpipe competitions for both snowboard and freeskiers. The Grand Prix events will serve as the some of the first Olympic tryout events, replacing originally scheduled competitions in Mammoth, which had been planned for early February. All of the contests will take part at Buttermilk in the halfpipe and jumps created for the X Games. With more snow predicted on the way for the weekend, this is sure to be a memorable week.
