Every year during the holiday season, the Aspen Chamber Resort Association presents the 12 Days of Aspen, an opportunity to make merry with family and friends at festive holiday events and activities around town. The holiday season in Aspen is a special time of the year, with the town beautifully decorated in sparkling lights, wreathes, and garland. December and the holiday season also happens to be the perfect time for an Aspen ski vacation. Each of the 12 Days of Aspen includes an array of fun activities like the opportunity to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus at the downtown firehouse, sip a free cup of hot cocoa, spin round and round on ice skates at the outdoor ice rink across from the Rubey Park Transit Center, make a piece of memorable holiday art, or listen to an entertaining tale being read during a storytelling hour. These activities and many more are available for families to enjoy during the 12 Days of Aspen.
Adults can revel in holiday festivities, too, as the 12 Days of Aspen schedule has plenty to offer. Dance, imbibe, and chat with locals and visitors at a 12 Days of Aspen après-ski soiree at an Aspen hotspot. An alternative to the après-ski scene is to see a show at the Wheeler Opera House, or enjoy a fine meal at a local restaurant.
The dozen days of fun continue through New Year's Eve. Bid farewell to the old, and ring in the New Year by watching the incredible fireworks display over Aspen Mountain. There are two fireworks shows at 8:00 pm, and another at midnight.
